Reconfigurable Organisation to Cope with Unpredictable Goals
نویسنده
چکیده
The paper proposes a methodology and design rules for organizational structures facing higher necessity of internal adaptation, of rapidly reconfigure themselves to cope with unpredictable situations – new markets, new products, unpredictable mix of production, problems in production process or flows etc. It implies changing and often conflictive criteria for production goals and for the allocation of work. The methodology was developed based on a large field action research and consulting during late 90s’; it was discussed and applied in organisations like Unilever (food and consumer goods), Rhône-Poulanc (chemical), Rockwell (autoparts / mechanical), Petrobras (oil refinery & engineering), R&D sectors of some companies as well as some attempt in public sector, and others. Their basis is the design of auto-reconfigurable working groups – or groups with variable geometry, depending on the events to face. Groups have neither previous size (number of components) nor predefined composition.

Émulation de mémoire partagée en environnements distribués dynamiques
Most distributed systems are large-scale and dynamic. Communication has thus become a critical issue and the shared memory, which is a reliable paradigm of communication, allows distributed nodes to exchange information through read and write operations. In this article, I introduce the challenges related to emulating a shared memory in a dynamic message passing environment where nodes constant...
متن کاملKnowledge Translation in Healthcare – Towards Understanding its True Complexities; Comment on “Using Complexity and Network Concepts to Inform Healthcare Knowledge Translation”
This commentary argues that to fully appreciate the complexities of knowledge transfer one firstly has to distinguish between the notions of “data, information, knowledge and wisdom,” and that the latter two are highly context sensitive. In particular one has to understand knowledge as being personal rather than objective, and hence there is no form of knowledge that a-priori is more authoritat...
متن کاملAutonomous Adaptation to Simultaneous Unexpected Changes in Modular Robots
To accomplish tasks in the real world, a robot (especially a modular and self-reconfigurable one) must be able to autonomously react and adapt to unexpected and possibly simultaneous changes to its self (such as its sensors, gaits, goals and modules) and dynamic situations/configurations in the environment. Failures, faults and reconfiguration that commonly occur in modular robots result in sim...
متن کاملA Robust regulation adaptation in multi-agent systems
Adaptive organisation-centred multi-agent systems can dynamically modify their organisational components to better accomplish their goals. Our research line proposes an abstract distributed architecture (2-LAMA) to endow an organisation with adaptation capabilities. This paper focuses on regulationadaptation based on a machine learning approach, in which adaptation is learned by applying a tail...
متن کاملAll-Optical Reconfigurable-Tunable 1×N Power Splitter Using Soliton Breakup
In this paper, we numerically simulated a glass-based all-optical 1×N power splitter with eleven different configurations using soliton breakup in a nonlinear medium. It is shown that in addition to reconfigurability of the proposed splitter, its power splitting ratio is tunable up to some extent values too. Nonlinear semivectorial iterative finite difference beam propagation method (IFD-...
